Board and Care is an interesting piece to have from the late '70s. It runs just under 30 minutes but packs quite the punch, exploring the delicate balance between vulnerability and connection. The performances by Richard Goss and Laura Jean Ellis are subtle yet impactful, really drawing you into the emotional landscape of their characters. The pacing is tight, which heightens the tension and intimacy between them. Although Ron Ellis isn't a household name, his direction brings a certain authenticity that feels very raw and genuine, a hallmark of independent cinema from that era. There's something about the way the film captures its themes of care and compassion that leaves a lingering impression, something you don't see often in short films.
