Boomerang! is a rather fascinating piece from Elia Kazan that dives deep into the moral complexities of justice. The film has this gritty atmosphere that feels distinctly post-war, almost claustrophobic. It’s really about the hysteria that can grip a community when faced with tragedy. The performances, especially by Dana Andrews as the DA, are solid; he carries a lot of weight on his shoulders. Kazan’s direction has a rawness that pulls you in, combining tension with a bit of thoughtful reflection. And the pacing? It keeps you guessing without dragging, a nice balance of drama and mystery. Just an interesting snapshot of American society in the 1940s, really.
