Bootleg Church offers a gritty look into the darker corners of faith and morality. The film weaves a tense narrative as Pastor Moore, stepping into the shoes of a deceased bishop, struggles against his own vices. You can really feel the tension in the pacing; it keeps you on your toes. The atmosphere is thick with deceit and desperation, almost suffocating at times. The performances, while perhaps not award-winning, do have a raw authenticity that makes you squirm. It's a blend of crime and drama, and while it doesn't break new ground, it compels you to think about the underbelly of religious authority. It's a story where every character gets caught up in the web of lies, and you can't help but watch it unfold.
