Borj el mechkou is really something special, it takes you to the heart of Errachidia's desolate yet striking landscapes. The whole film has this meditative pace, as we follow a man's journey to restore these underground water galleries. Driss Aroussi has a way with the camera, his framing is thoughtful, and he captures the stark beauty of the desert while illustrating the harsh realities of drought. There's a kind of quiet urgency in the storytelling, and the way the visuals play off the themes of survival and resilience is just... well, it sticks with you. You can feel the struggle of the land and its people without a lot of flashy effects, just pure, raw emotion and authenticity throughout.
Captivating portrayal of environmental issues.Stunning cinematography highlighting the Moroccan desert.Thought-provoking themes of water scarcity and survival.
