Boys on the Outside is this gritty drama from 1990 that really captures the bleakness of youth in a society that offers little hope. The film follows Natale, freshly released from prison, trying to reconnect with friends who are just as lost. Claudio's story adds another layer, coming out of juvenile detention, and meeting Vita who wants to escape with him. The pacing is almost languid, mirroring their aimless lives, while the performances are raw and sincere, really driving home the despair and camaraderie among these young men. It’s not flashy, but there’s a stark authenticity in how it portrays the struggle against a backdrop of urban decay.
