Bright Personality is quite the oddball comedy from '89, don’t you think? The premise is simple yet bizarre: our protagonist finds themselves invisible, and that leads to a series of ridiculous and often absurd scenarios. It expertly mocks the bureaucratic red tape, the inflated egos of the ambitious, and the dynamics within families, all with a satirical bite that feels very much in line with Ilf and Petrov's style. The pacing has a nice ebb and flow to it, punctuated by moments of sheer absurdity, while the practical effects used to portray invisibility are surprisingly effective for the time. The performances, while not overly polished, have a genuine charm. It's a quirky slice of comedy that stands out for its social commentary wrapped in humor.
