Brothers (2015) captures a certain teenage angst, a blend of coming-of-age drama with a darker edge. Chris is this relatable, downtrodden sixteen-year-old whose life seems stuck until he meets a girl from out of town, bringing a flicker of excitement. But then there's David, the unpredictable older brother whose volatility threatens everything. The pacing is deliberate, allowing for some really intimate moments but also ramping up tension when needed. It's not flashy, but the performances are raw and engaging, grounding the film in a reality that feels all too familiar. The interplay between the characters is what really makes it distinctive; it’s that mix of hope and despair that lingers long after the credits roll.
Brothers (2015) has had a somewhat limited release, which adds to its collector appeal. The film hasn't seen a lot of physical formats, so finding a good copy can be a bit of a challenge. While it may not have a huge following, those who appreciate nuanced character studies and indie vibes might find it an interesting addition to their collections. It's certainly worth keeping an eye out for any special editions or screenings that pop up.
