So, 'Bucket List Night' is a neat little indie flick from 2009 that dives into the lives of two very different guys, Soren and Dan. The chemistry between the two is interesting, sort of awkward, which makes their bucket list sharing both funny and a bit heartbreaking. It has this raw, almost home-video feel to it, which adds to the intimacy. The pacing is, well, uneven but that kind of works in its favor, giving you time to digest the heavier themes of friendship and the fragility of life. The performances are pretty genuine, especially as Soren grapples with what he learns about Dan’s deeper struggles. Not a lot of flashy effects, just solid character work and relatable moments. It’s distinctive for its very grounded approach in a genre that can go over-the-top.
