Building a Building is one of those early 30s cartoons that really encapsulates the chaos of construction with a charming twist. Directed by David Hand, it features Mickey Mouse as a hapless shovel operator, caught up in a mix of slapstick comedy and romantic interest with Minnie, who's delivering lunches on site. The pacing is brisk, with each mishap escalating in a delightful way, maybe a tad too exaggerated for today's standards, but that’s the beauty of it. Pete, as the foreman, adds a layer of tension and humor, especially when he thwarts Mickey's attempts to impress Minnie. The animation style is quite engaging, capturing that era’s whimsical charm while showcasing some clever practical effects, all in a light-hearted atmosphere that keeps you entertained throughout.
