Bum Rap is this quirky little gem from 1988 that blends comedy and drama in a really unique way. You have Paul Colson, a New York cabdriver, who's also trying to make it as an actor. The twist? He finds out he’s got about three days to live because of this rare blood disorder. It’s interesting watching him navigate all those stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance – but with a dark comedic twist. The pacing can be a bit uneven, but that adds to its charm, I think. And while the performances might not be Oscar-worthy, there’s something genuine about them. It encapsulates a certain gritty New York vibe that feels authentic, almost raw. Definitely a film that sticks with you for its audacity.
