Burnouts is a stoner comedy, sure, but it’s got this laid-back vibe that really matches the road trip premise. Joe Manco directs with a loose approach, letting the humor flow naturally between the two leads. The pacing feels like a lazy afternoon, which fits the whole idea of just cruising and looking for that perfect smoke spot. There’s a nice blend of practical effects sprinkled throughout, especially in some of the trippy sequences that give it a distinct feel. The performances feel genuine, like these guys could be your friends. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but there’s a subtle commentary on friendship and escapism woven in, which makes it a little more thoughtful than your average road trip flick.
