So, 'By Rule of Crow's Thumb' is one of those quirky indie flicks that slips through the cracks. You've got Take and Tetsu, these small-time grifters, always a step ahead of their troubles—until they aren't. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it really builds this tension that keeps you on edge. The comedy is dark, layered with a sort of absurdity that blends nicely with the drama when it gets serious. The practical effects are surprisingly effective for the budget. And then there’s Mahiro, who adds a whole new dynamic to the duo’s plans. It’s not exactly polished, but that’s part of its charm, I guess. There's a real rawness to it all, which feels authentic in this genre mashup.
Unique blend of genres that defies easy categorization.Interesting character dynamics between con artists and Mahiro.Notable for its raw atmosphere and dark humor.
