Cabin Fever (2021) tries to catch the same raw nerve as the original, but it feels like a hollow echo. The atmosphere is there, all claustrophobic and eerie, but it lacks the grit that made the 2002 version memorable. The pacing drags in spots, and the characters feel a bit one-note, which dampens the tension. While it has some decent practical effects, they don’t quite land like they should. You can see what they were aiming for with the themes of isolation and paranoia, but they don’t hit home as effectively. Still, it’s an interesting take for anyone who’s deep into the genre and appreciates the evolution of horror films.
