Caddyshack II is a bit of a curious sequel that definitely carries its own vibe compared to the original. Directed by Allan Arkush, it leans heavily into that 80s comedy aesthetic, mixing slapstick with offbeat humor. The pacing is uneven; it starts strong but kind of meanders through some of the gags. You can tell the filmmakers were trying to recapture that wild spirit but ended up with a more kitschy feel. The performances, especially from Jackie Mason, bring a different flavor that’s kind of fun but doesn’t quite match the charm of its predecessor. The practical effects are amusing, and the whole idea of turning a snooty country club into a tacky amusement park is just so over-the-top, it’s memorable in its own right.
