Cave Ablaze is one of those animated flicks that kind of sneaks up on you. It’s got this quirky charm, you know? The premise is fun—our timid caveman, with his living cave paintings that add a nice touch of whimsy, really draws you in. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it sort of works with the whole prehistoric vibe. The themes of courage and self-discovery resonate throughout, especially when he’s facing that predator. The animation itself is distinctive, blending traditional styles with modern techniques. There’s a particular warmth to the colors that I really liked. It’s not groundbreaking, but there’s a lot to appreciate if you’re into unique indie animations.
