Chalk has this unique blend of comedy and drama that captures the chaotic essence of teaching in a public school. The characters are really relatable – you’ve got the rookie teachers all navigating their first year with a mix of enthusiasm and sheer panic. The atmosphere at Harrison High is just right, with a real sense of unpredictability. There’s also this dry humor throughout that feels very authentic, especially in how they portray the ridiculous situations that come up. The pacing is a bit on the slower side at times, but it gives room for the characters to breathe and develop. You get a real feel for their struggles and the absurdities of the school life they’re part of. It’s a solid example of indie filmmaking capturing a slice of life.
