So, 'Cheaper by the Dozen' is a pretty fun family flick from 2003. Directed by Shawn Levy, it has that light-hearted but chaotic vibe that really captures the essence of a big family trying to find their groove in a new city. The pacing is brisk, which works well given the constant hustle of the Baker kids. Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt bring a nice balance, their chemistry feels genuine, even if it leans on the family-friendly side of humor. The practical effects in some scenes, especially during the chaotic family moments, add a nice touch without feeling overly CGI’ed. It's not groundbreaking, but it definitely hits those relatable family themes well enough.
Released on DVD in 2004, includes deleted scenes.Filmed in various Chicago locations for authenticity.Steve Martin's family film performance is a standout.
