Child Cry and Devilry is a quaint little film that really leans into its rural setting, taking us back to 1949 at Matilda and Nils-Erik's farm. The whole vibe is rather charming and nostalgic, almost like stepping into a different era. Lennart and Rakel's plans to run the farm add a sense of generational conflict, though it’s balanced with light-hearted moments that keep the tone from getting too heavy. The pacing is leisurely, allowing for some nice character development, particularly in how the older and younger generations clash and connect. The practical effects work, while modest, adds a touch of authenticity, grounding the film in its time period. Performances are solid; the actors really embody their characters, making the farm feel lived-in and relatable.
