Child Eater is one of those films that really plays with the idea of childhood fears. The atmosphere is thick with dread, and you can almost feel the tension creeping in as Helen discovers that Lucas’s closet might be more than just a storage space. The pacing is tight, keeping you on edge, and the practical effects are a nice touch – they add a layer of authenticity that CGI just can't replicate. The performances, especially by the lead, really sell the horror of the situation. It’s a straightforward concept but executed in a way that feels fresh. The themes of innocence lost and the lurking dangers of the unknown resonate well, making it a distinctive piece in the indie horror landscape of its time.
