Child Eater is one of those indie horrors that leans heavily into the atmospheric dread. Set mostly in a dimly lit house, it captures that feeling of isolation perfectly. The pacing is deliberate, which builds tension as babysitter Helen uncovers the sinister truth lurking in Lucas' closet. What’s interesting is the blend of practical effects and a minimalistic approach; they really knew how to evoke fear without overdoing the CGI. The performances are solid, particularly the young actors, which keeps the emotional stakes high. It's the kind of film that plays with childhood fears, tapping into that boogeyman trope in a way that feels both familiar and fresh. It has its rough edges, but there's a charm to its rawness.
