So, 'Chirp, Buzz, & Other Sensations' is an interesting mix of comedy and drama that centers around Angie, a fifteen-year-old girl caught in the whirlwind of her first feelings of sexual attraction. The film does a decent job of exploring the conflict between her natural impulses and the constraints of her conservative upbringing. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but it kind of adds to the awkwardness of her journey. The performances, especially from the lead, bring a raw authenticity that feels relatable. What I find distinctive is how it tackles themes of sexuality and guilt with a somewhat light-hearted tone, yet still manages to hit those more serious notes. Not your typical teen movie, for sure.
