City Sharks is this odd little comedy from 2003 that sort of straddles the line between absurdity and heart. Mike, the main character, is a real down-and-out guy who just wants to save his childhood orphanage. The premise is pretty wild β he decides to impersonate a loanshark after witnessing a pretty grisly scene. The pacing is all over the place, which can be a bit jarring, but it somehow adds to its quirky charm. There are some decent practical effects here and there, particularly in the way they depict his debt-collecting antics. Itβs not groundbreaking, but the performances from the supporting cast bring a certain energy that makes it distinctive. You might find yourself chuckling at the sheer ridiculousness of it all.
