City Under Siege is quite the peculiar blend, mixing circus life with wartime thriller elements. The story of Sunny, this naive clown with aspirations of knife-throwing glory, brings a certain innocence to the chaos. The bullying of his peers sets a dark tone, really, especially as they stumble upon that eerie cave and the lurking presence of the Japanese army. There's a rawness to the action scenes, and sure, the practical effects play into the film’s gritty atmosphere, which might not sit well with some but adds to the overall vibe. The pacing is a bit uneven—one moment you're with the circus shenanigans, and suddenly, it veers into more serious territory. It's an interesting watch, striking in its odd juxtaposition of joy and desperation.
