Clandestinos is quite a rough-edged film, really. Thereâs this palpable tension throughout, you can almost feel the weight of Xabi's choices pressing down on him. The pacing, itâs not rushed, but it keeps you engagedâespecially in the moments when Xabi is grappling with his ideology and the realities of his actions. The performances are gritty; you can see real struggle in the characters. Iñaki's influence on Xabi feels layered, and their dynamic is complex, which adds depth to the narrative. The setting, a juvenile detention center, serves as a microcosm of societyâs larger issues, which is intriguing. Plus, the practical effects are understated but effective, grounding the story in a kind of raw realism. Itâs definitely a film that leaves you thinking.
