Class of '44 is an interesting mix of comedy and drama that captures the transition from adolescence to adulthood against the backdrop of WWII. It’s got this soft, nostalgic vibe that really pulls you in, you know? The pacing ebbs and flows as we follow Hermie, Oscy, and Benjie—each taking their own path post-graduation. The performances are solid, especially with Hermie's infatuation for Julie; it’s awkward and sweet, really reflecting that age. The film does a nice job highlighting the innocence lost during turbulent times without being overly preachy. Practical effects aren’t really a focus here but the everyday setting and costumes feel authentic, grounding the narrative in that era. There’s a warmth to it that’s hard to shake off.
