Cliché is one of those oddities from the early 2000s. Jack Lichec, our rogue cop, operates in that familiar blend of action and comedy, but it’s the pacing that really caught my attention. It zips along, almost frenetic, balancing the humor with genuine stakes—his partner's death looms large, making every quip feel a bit darker. The practical effects, while not groundbreaking, have a raw charm that you don’t see in a lot of today’s CGI-heavy fare. And then there’s the atmosphere, a sort of gritty urban landscape peppered with those classic buddy-cop vibes. Performances are solid, albeit a bit one-note, but they fit the overall tone. It’s got that nostalgic feel, the kind of flick you’d pull out when you want some mindless entertainment with a side of seriousness.
