Clydecynic is an interesting exploration of self-empowerment through the lens of hypnosis. Clyde, the protagonist, is a self-proclaimed master, and you can feel his mix of ambition and insecurity throughout. The pacing is a bit uneven, but it adds to the overall atmosphere of uncertainty that permeates the film. There’s this raw, almost DIY aesthetic that gives it a unique charm—like you're peering into a world that feels very real and a bit gritty. The performances, especially from Clyde, capture that desperation and sometimes absurdity of trying to find meaning in one's life. It’s definitely not your conventional drama, leaning more into the surreal as it unfolds, and that’s what makes it stand out.
Interesting use of practical effects, albeit minimal. The film’s pacing may not be for everyone, but it serves its themes well.Distinctive character study with a surreal edge.
