Coda (1987) is an interesting blend of horror and thriller, set against the backdrop of a university. The film's atmosphere is thick with tension, and you can really feel the dread as the maniac picks off female students one by one. The pacing is deliberate, which builds an unsettling sense of anticipation, and I think that really works in its favor. While the director remains unknown, the practical effects are quite striking for a TV movie of its time, adding a layer of grit to the experience. The performances, while not always top-notch, bring a certain authenticity to the characters, making their plight resonate. It’s a unique piece of the genre that deserves a spot in any collector's library.
