Collateral Damage is an interesting mix of action and personal drama, directed by Andrew Davis, who really knows how to build tension. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Gordon Brewer, a firefighter thrown into a chaotic world after a tragic bombing. The film has a gritty vibe, enhanced by its realistic approach to terrorism and its consequences. The pacing is a little uneven, but it works for the most part—building suspense before the explosive action sequences. You can’t ignore the practical effects, especially in the explosive set pieces. It’s less about the big shootouts and more about Brewer's emotional journey. The performances feel grounded, which adds weight to the overall experience. Definitely captures a certain early 2000s action film essence.
