Commandments is an interesting mix of comedy and drama, weaving in some romance. Seth Warner, played by the underrated Michael A. Goorjian, is struggling with the weight of grief. The film captures that raw, messy feeling of loss pretty well. It's not your typical rom-com; more a character study wrapped in a quirky premise. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, which might throw some viewers off, but it fits the chaotic emotional state of Seth. The supporting cast, including Eric Roberts, brings an odd charm and depth to the mix. It’s distinctive for its blend of humor and pathos, and the practical effects used during some scenes give it a grounded feel. Definitely a film that sticks with you, but not for the usual reasons.
