Compromis is this interesting little comedy, really. You’ve got two thirty-somethings in an empty apartment, which already sets a certain tone, right? Emmanuel Murat does a nice job capturing the awkwardness of their friendship. The pacing feels deliberate, almost like a stage play with its dialogues and pauses. The performances are quite distinct—one’s a mediocre comedian and the other a playwright who’s not really hit his stride. They’re both sort of lost, but there’s humor in that. And the atmosphere is a bit melancholic yet amusing, with the apartment almost becoming a character itself. It’s this blend of tension and absurdity that makes it a unique watch in the comedy genre.
