Confession (2008) digs deep into the psyche of a man grappling with his past in post-genocide Rwanda. The film's tone is heavy, steeped in a somber atmosphere that reflects the weight of guilt and the burden of memory. The pacing is deliberate, allowing us to sit with the protagonist's torment, a family man haunted by a horrific act he committed just before the genocide. The performances are raw and impactful, drawing you into his internal struggle. It doesn't shy away from the harsh realities of trauma and moral reckoning. The way it handles such a sensitive subject matter, combined with its understated yet compelling visuals, really makes it stand out. Definitely a thought-provoking watch, though it’s not an easy one.
