So, Cookie's Fortune is all about the quirks of small-town life, you know? Altman's direction gives it this laid-back, almost meandering vibe that fits perfectly with the Southern setting. The characters are a real mixed bag—each of them reacts to the old woman's death in such unique, often hilarious ways. The pacing feels relaxed, allowing you to soak in the atmosphere of Holly Springs. You get to see some solid performances, especially from Glenn Close and Julianne Moore, who really bring depth to their roles. There's a blend of comedy and drama that feels very natural. It’s the kind of film that lingers in your mind, sort of subtle in its exploration of family dynamics and how grief can twist relationships.
Great for a cozy night in.Look out for the ensemble cast's chemistry.A perfect example of Altman's storytelling style.
