Cristóbal Colón (1983) is an interesting animated take on the well-trodden story of Columbus. The atmosphere is vibrant, really capturing the adventurous spirit of exploration. It offers a unique perspective on the journey from the idea of discovery to the actual arrival in the New World. The pacing can feel a bit uneven, moving swiftly through key moments, which might throw some viewers off. But there’s a certain charm in its animation style—simple yet effective, almost reminiscent of classic animation. The themes of ambition and discovery are present but not overly preachy, which is nice. And while we don’t know much about the director, the film has a distinct feel that stands out among other animated features of that era.
