Crusade in Jeans is an interesting blend of adventure and fantasy with a historical backdrop that feels both whimsical and grounded. Dolf's accidental jaunt to the Middle Ages is fascinating, especially when he gets swept up with this group of children on their quest. The film's tone is a mix of youthful exuberance and somber realities, as it explores the innocence of childhood against the backdrop of a crusade, which is quite the juxtaposition. The pacing has a nice ebb and flow, allowing us to soak in the medieval scenery and the camaraderie of the young crusaders. The performances, particularly from the child actors, carry a certain earnestness that feels genuine, and the practical effects, while not always sophisticated, lend a certain charm to the overall experience.
