Cyber Ninja is like this bizarre mashup of samurai films and sci-fi tropes, set in a future where feudal Japan meets cybernetic warriors. The pacing is a bit frenetic, but it holds this odd charm with its practical effects and designs that feel very much of the late '80s. The performances can be a mixed bag, but the cyborg ninja, Shiranui, is a standout—there's something really compelling about the character's dual nature. The mechanical ninjas are a wild concept, executed with a kind of raw energy that’s both entertaining and, at times, laughable. The atmosphere is gritty and dark, which suits its themes of honor and rebellion against tyranny. It’s definitely one of those films that speaks to a certain era in genre filmmaking.
