Cyborg 009: Call of Justice 2 offers a continuation of that gripping narrative we see from the previous installment, diving deeper into Joe Shimamura's conflict with the Bresudo. This group, shrouded in mystery, has been manipulating humanity for centuries, giving the film an eerie, oppressive atmosphere. The animation here is striking, blending fluid action sequences with that quintessentially dark tone characteristic of the series. You get this sense of urgency as the cyborgs grapple not only with external threats but also their own identities. It has this layered storytelling that feels dense but rewarding. The pacing? Well, it does have its moments of slow burn, but I think it adds to the weight of the narrative. Definitely stands out amongst the many adaptations.
