So, 'Dad or Mom' is one of those films that plays heavily with the comedic aspects of divorce and parental rivalry. It has this light-hearted yet slightly absurd tone that balances the harsher realities of family breakups. Florencia and Vicente’s antics to dodge custody are both ridiculous and relatable. The pacing keeps it engaging, bouncing from one ridiculous plan to another, and you can't help but chuckle at their desperation. The performances are solid too, they really nail the awkwardness of their situation. There’s a sense of chaos that feels very authentic, making the characters' struggles, while comedic, resonate. It feels fresh in its perspective on divorce, leaning more towards humor than heavy drama, which is nice to see.
