Dark City is one of those films that really immerses you in a unique atmosphere. The visuals are striking, with a noir aesthetic that feels almost like a twisted dream. The pacing is deliberate; it slowly unveils the mystery of the protagonist's past while crafting an unsettling tone. Proyas’s use of practical effects is impressive, especially given the era. There's a tangible feel to the world that CGI often lacks. The performances are solid, especially Rufus Sewell, who brings a raw vulnerability to the role. It's fascinating how the film explores themes of identity and memory amid a dystopian backdrop. Definitely worth revisiting for its distinct style and interesting narrative.
