Darkness in the Light is this intriguing drama that kind of creeps up on you, right? Set in Matsumoto during the summer of '94, it follows this average salaryman who wakes up to find himself the prime suspect in a truly horrifying mass murder case. The atmosphere is thick with tension and unease, almost palpable, and it really captures the essence of a man's unraveling under societal pressure. The pacing, at times, feels deliberate, allowing you to really digest his internal struggles. The performances are understated but powerful, almost haunting. It's one of those films that stays with you, not necessarily because it's flashy, but because it paints such a stark picture of fear and isolation in an ordinary life. Definitely distinct in its execution.
