So, 'David' from 1997 directed by Robert Markowitz is an interesting take on the biblical story. It's a TV movie, so you have to adjust your expectations a bit. The atmosphere is quite somber, which works for the themes of betrayal and leadership. The pacing feels a little uneven at times; some scenes drag, while others hit hard. The performances, especially by the lead, manage to convey a lot of emotional weight despite the TV movie limitations. Practical effects aren't going to blow you away, but they complement the narrative nicely. It’s definitely more focused on character development than grand spectacles, and that gives it a unique charm within its genre.
