Days of Heaven is a visual feast, a kind of dreamy Americana. Malick’s style is so immersive, with that soft golden light bathing everything, giving it a nostalgic fever dream vibe. The pacing is languid, almost meditative, which might not suit everyone, but it really draws you into the lives of these characters. The use of natural sound and the striking cinematography just elevate it. Sissy Spacek's narration gives it a haunting quality, like a bittersweet memory. It's about love and betrayal, but also about the beauty and harshness of life. Plus, the practical effects during the harvest scenes are pretty impressive for the time. It’s definitely a unique experience among 70s cinema.
