Dead Air is a wild ride, really. It captures that claustrophobic horror vibe beautifully, all set within the confines of an airplane, which is pretty unique for the genre. The punk rock band, Monster Kitten, has some solid energy. The camaraderie among the band members feels real, which adds to the tension when the creatures start wreaking havoc. The practical effects are pretty impressive, too—there's something about the tactile nature of those creatures that CGI just can't replicate. It leans heavily into mayhem, but there's a surprising amount of thematic tension about fame and survival. The pacing shifts nicely between moments of raw chaos and quieter character beats. Definitely has a distinct indie feel that some collectors might really appreciate.
