So, 'Dead Man' is this interesting blend of action and comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously. You got Max, this high school kid, thrown into this ridiculous battle against a group of assassins. The pacing is a bit all over the place, but that kinda fits the vibe of the story. The atmosphere feels like a mix of teenage angst with a darkly humorous edge, especially when it comes to the way it handles the whole brother angle. Practical effects are decent, and you can tell they had a bit of fun with some of the fight sequences. Performances are a mixed bag, but I think Max’s portrayal really carries the film, oscillating between vulnerability and a dry sense of humor that makes it distinctive.
