So, 'Dead of Night: A Darkness at Blaisedon' is a curious little TV movie that really leans into its eerie atmosphere. Directed by Lela Swift, it features a haunted mansion, of course, but it's the characters that make the ride interesting. Jonathon Fletcher and his assistant Sajeed Rau bring a sort of earnestness to their investigation, which I find adds depth to the otherwise typical ghost hunting trope. The pacing feels a bit slow for modern tastes, but it gives the haunting a chance to breathe, letting the tension build in a way that’s kind of refreshing. The practical effects, while modest, have a certain charm, and the performances are solid, especially in conveying a sense of dread and mystery. It's definitely got a particular vibe that sticks with you.
