Deadly Force, directed by Paul Aaron, has this gritty, raw vibe that really captures the struggle of its lead character, Stoney Cooper. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but it adds to that sense of desperation he experiences. You get this dark atmosphere, especially with the whole serial killer subplot that adds tension. The performances, particularly by the lead, are compelling, really drawing you into his downfall and quest for redemption. The practical effects, while not groundbreaking, serve the story well. It’s interesting how it explores themes of authority and personal demons, all wrapped in a crime drama package that’s pretty distinct for its time. Not your typical action flick, for sure.
