Death in Venice is this beautifully slow-burn piece, really captures the weight of longing and beauty. Visconti's direction is so meticulous, every frame feels like a painting. The use of color and light is striking, almost intoxicating. Dirk Bogarde's performance as Aschenbach is deeply affecting—he embodies the character's descent into obsession and despair with such grace. The pacing is deliberate, which might not sit well with everyone, but it really immerses you in that hazy, decadent Venice. And the score, oh man, Mahler’s music adds layers to the whole experience. It’s not just a story; it’s an exploration of desire, mortality, and art itself. A complex film that sticks with you.
