Decay (2012) is one of those niche horror flicks that uses the eerie backdrop of CERN to create tension. The atmosphere is thick—just the idea of a particle accelerator gone wrong adds this layer of existential dread. As students navigate the shadowy maintenance tunnels, the pacing is pretty relentless; it keeps you on edge without losing sight of character development. The practical effects, especially the transformation of the maintenance crew into zombies, are surprisingly well done for a low-budget film. It's not groundbreaking, but there's something about its mix of science and horror that gives it a unique flavor. Performances are a bit uneven, but they add to that raw, indie feel, making it more engaging than you might expect.
Interesting blend of science fiction and horrorNot widely known, but has its own charmA good example of practical effects in indie film
