Deep Contact has this wild mix of comedy and sci-fi that feels almost surreal. The film's central theme of sexuality being linked to psychic power is both bizarre and strangely interesting. Practical effects are pretty low-key but have their own charm. The pacing is uneven, which might throw some off, but it adds to the offbeat atmosphere. Kitazawa’s direction brings a unique voice to the genre mash-up. It’s not your standard end-of-the-world flick, that’s for sure.
