Deep Dark is one of those indie horrors that latches onto you with its unsettling atmosphere. The film has this slow burn that really immerses you in the characters' world—Mia and Patrick seem to have this idyllic life, but that facade crumbles with Mia's disappearance. The pacing is peculiar; it almost drags in parts, but it builds tension in a way that's distinct. The practical effects they use for the horror element? Quite impressive for the budget. There's a rawness to the performances that feels very genuine, especially in Patrick's search for Mia. The themes of escapism and the fragility of paradise are woven in subtly, creating a haunting vibe that lingers long after the credits roll.
